Construction of a terrace is a very responsible task and requiring a thoughtful selection of materials, its location and construction. It is worth making the above decisions already at the design stage of the house, but nothing prevents the construction of a terrace to the existing building.
When the project and the place are already selected, we have to focus on choosing the best material: stone, stoneware, or maybe wood? When deciding on the last option, it remains to us diligently what kind of wood will be properly durable, aesthetic and visually effective.
Where to start?
In the case of wood on the terrace, we can choose between wooden boards and composites, and thus, there are many possibilities about the model and color of the materials. At the very beginning, it is worth asking three questions that will certainly help you choose the best option:
- Where will the terrace be located?
- What will be the function?
- What are the colors of the terrace?
Wood - which is the best?
The dream of a wooden terrace will certainly come true if we use natural boards for its construction. Unlike composites, they do not heat up so much, they do not look plastic or lose their color quickly. Another advantage is their easy care - maintenance and cleaning of wooden boards do not cause significant problems. Boards that have lost their color can easily be restored to its original condition, with the help of oil or with the help of special agents for removing gray. No less important aspect is their ecology - the boards are a fully organic material.
The modern market offers many types and species of wooden boards, which are characterized by a completely different color, durability and price. Depending on which aspect - visual or endurance - we care the most and where we intend to build it, we must decide to choose the right board. Among the terrace options are:
- pine terrace boards,
- Spruce terrace boards,
- Terrace boards made of national larch
- terrace boards from Siberian larch,
- exotic wood boards,
- WPC composites.
Siberian larch - a good choice?
Terrace boards made of Siberian larch, also available and in our offer, show much better strength parameters than boards from other tree species. They owe their strength and vitality to grow in a raw climate, which comes from the fact that they have less annual growth, giving hardness effects. The value of the solution, which are boards from Siberian larch , is also the price. Although this is not the lowest price shelf, they certainly do not belong to the most expensive boards. Importantly, despite their orange, natural color, they easily take paint, and thus can be dyed into the shade we choose, while meeting visual expectations. A big advantage is also the grain and visible, though small knots, which give the boards character. When choosing Siberian larch, but remember to properly protect it against atmospheric changes and their effects.
Exotic board - yes or no?
The modern market provides many species of exotic wood. It is increasingly converted into terrace wood, characterized by high resistance to changing weather conditions and high hardness. The most popular species certainly include trees such as Bangkirai, Cumaru, Massaranduba and more and more difficult IPE and TEAK. It is these species of trees that work well on both home and public terraces, offering high quality for many years of use. It is worth remembering, however, that despite their natural strength and immunity, without oiling, they lose their color. It is also worth mentioning that exotic wood is working and to guarantee high quality of the terrace, check the origin of boards - only certified species will provide us with high quality of the built terrace.
When building a terrace, you should think carefully about its form - the faster, the better. It is also worth thinking about his role in our lives - whether he will only be used for evening rest, or rather for frequent meetings with your closest friends and family. Only writing specific aspects is able to bring us closer to making the best decision.
